FutMexNation is here to bring you a recap of this past weekend’s Mexican Abroad Action.

La Liga

‘Tecatito’ Corona continues to live in a great moment with Sevilla. This weekend he was subbed on in the 55th minute with his team down a goal. He would have an instant impact, providing an assist in the 63rd minute to level the match. Apart from the assist, he would also win two duels, and complete one cross. Sevilla will continue to be in second place for the time being, trailing the league leaders Real Madrid by seven points.

Eredivisie

Erick ‘Guti’ Gutierrez continues to have a phenomenal season and also continues to be a fundamental player for PSV in their title chase. Guti played the full 90 minutes in his team’s 1-0 win. With this win, PSV continues to trail Ajax by two points, making this one of the title races to keep any eye on. Guti had a decent match and was the team’s leader in precise passes throughout the 90 minutes. He also won two duels, had eleven defensive actions, and completed two long passes. Guti and PSV will now travel to Denmark to take on Copenhagen for the UEFA Conference League after a wild 4-4 draw in Eindhoven.

Serie A

Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano finally returned to the starting lineup after injuring his shoulder in February. Despite not having his typical explosiveness, Lozano was still really sharp with his touches, a subtle consistency many will national team fans will be happy to see so close to the upcoming qualifiers.

‘Chucky’ played 63 minutes before being subbed out for Lorenzo Insigne. Napoli would go on and defeat Hellas Verona by a score of 2-1. With this win Napoli moves into second place and is only three points behind the leaders AC Milan. Lozano managed to complete two key passes, won five duels, received two fouls and had a 93% passing accuracy. With important matches coming up for El Tri, additional minutes are key for an offensive asset like Chucky.

Napoli will return home next weekend and take on Udinese on their quest to challenge for the Serie A title.

Serie A

Johan Vasquez continues to be a bright spot for this dull and lifeless Genoa team. The Mexican centre-back has continuously played out of position this season but continues to show off his versatility as he started as a left-back in his match against Atalanta. The game ended in a draw, extending Genoa’s win-less streak to 26!

Still, Johan completed the full 90 minutes, having a 53% passing accuracy along with two interceptions, four duels won and also one shot on target. Genoa are now in 19th place; six points behind salvation. Johan continues to be one of the team’s brighter spots but he might have to pay the price if Genoa do not start to win more matches.
