Mexicans Abroad: Chucky the Centurian, Lainez The Streak-Holder, and Tecatito The Magnificent

FutMexNation is back to bring you the latest information on your favorite ‘Extranjeros’. It was a jam-packed week for some of the leagues abroad. Here are the key points you might’ve missed from our favorite Aztecas:

Coppa Italia & Serie A

Chucky Scored Centennial Goal

This is the third consecutive week Hirving “Chucky Lozano has made headlines by accomplishing another major milestone. Lozano scored his 100th career club goal and continues to make it look like child’s play as he strikes horror into opponents’ defenses. Lozano’s Napoli won both competitions by a two-goal differential. Chucky’s historic goal came at the hands of Spezia in Coppa Italia on Thursday. The Mexican winger scored his 100th goal in the 20th minute. Similar to goal 99, teammate Diego Demme served a long pass to Lozano who struck the ball behind the net for the 2-0 lead. The Gil Azzurri had a dominant start, scoring all four goals before the half. Chucky was subbed out in the 46th minute while the Eagles registered two-goals to keep it interesting. The Blues now advance to the semifinals of the Coppa Italia and will face off against Atalanta.

The Blue’s second victory came against Parma on Sunday. Chucky played the full 90 minutes and helped his team secure the 2-0 victory over the Crusaders. Despite a sluggish start, the Gil Azzurri and Lozano kept their composure and built momentum throughout the game.

NEXT MATCH: Wed., Feb. 3rd against Atalanta (Coppa Italia Semi-Final)

Copa del Rey

Lainez in a Battle Real Part Two

Yet another battle of the two Real’s took place, this time it was in a Copa del Rey Round of 16 match where Diego Lainez found himself once again in the starting lineup for the Verdiblancos. The young Guerrero looked to keep his team’s unbeaten streak alive against the white and blue. Real Sociedad put pressure on the Lobos by scoring in the 13th minute of play. The competition continued to heat up as time elapsed and no one could find the back of the net.

The Verdiblancos got a man advantage in the 48th minute after Asiere Illarramendi received his second yellow for Real Sociedad. Lainez was subbed out in the 67th minute as skipper Manuel Pellegrini was looking to change things up for Los Lobos. After a red card was issued to Antonio Sanabria in the 75th minute for Betis, they were able to find the equalizer in the 78th minute, thanks to a goal from Sergio Canales. Los Lobos were hungry for more as they stacked up two more goals in extra time. Andres Guardado remained on the bench as he cheered his team to victory.

However, Lainez’s momentum has unfortunately been delayed after Real Betis reported he has tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. One only hopes that doesn’t have lasting effects both for his physical health and on the field.
