It was a quiet week of coverage within MLS because the Galaxy did not play and David Ochoa, Jairo Torres and Javier ‘Chofis’ Lopez were all not featured.
It was all about LAFC, who continued their dominance on Sunday,
LAFC Maintain First Place
Carlos Vela played all 90 minutes in LAFC’s 2-0 home win over NY RedBulls. Vela assisted Chicho Arango to give LAFC a 1-0 in the 67th minute. With a defender on his back near the middle of the pitch, Vela chipped the ball over defenders to a wide open Arango before falling to the ground. It was Vela’s fourth assist of the season and first assist in two months.
With the win, LAFC is in first place in the West with 33 points. 4 points ahead of second place Real Salt Lake. Their next match is Wednesday, June 29th against FC Dallas. Even with their first place status, the club is adding two top tier players in Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini, Both will be first available Friday, July 8, when the club faces the LA Galaxy.
