Puebla hopes to continue with their good fortune and will try to sink Chivas further into their crisis. Meanwhile, the Clasico Capitalino roars its way to C.U. Here is what to look forward to in Jornada 7.

Bravos de Juarez vs Tigres (Friday, February 25th at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET)

Tuca Ferretti will match up against the team he led for eleven years this weekend when Bravos welcome Tigres on Friday. Ferretti has yet to achieve the level of success with Juarez as he did with Tigres. Yet, he has done a remarkable job with what he has and has Bravos fighting for a top ten position. This will be his second time facing his former team; his first match Bravos fell against Tigres 3-0.

As for Los Felinos they sit within the top four but have yet to have convincing performances. Coming from behind and defeating San Luis 2-1 this past weekend has some questioning Herrera’s tactics. Even though they have four straight wins so far, they have managed to have just one solid performance this season – their 3-1 away victory vs Chivas. We are almost at the halfway point of the season and there are still some doubts about Tigres. Sebastian Cordova has yet to incorporate himself properly, relegating him to a role on the bench meanwhile they have been too reliant on Nahuel Guzman to bail them out of many situations. One of their brightest spots however has been Yeferson Soteldo, who has been playing at an exceptionally high level and was responsible for two assists against San Luis. Soteldo is also the player with the most opportunities (10) created in a single match. No doubt he is someone Tuca will have to keep an eye on and do his best to shut him down.

Guadalajara vs Puebla ( Saturday, February 26th at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET)

Chivas will look to bounce back from their heartbreak loss against Leon this Saturday when they take on league leaders Puebla. Despite the last-minute loss, Chivas showed promise against Leon but failed to put the ball in the back of the net when they needed to. It will also be interesting to see how many minutes newly returned Jose Juan Macias will earn this game and whether that can make a difference for the Chivas offense.

Puebla on the other hand will be looking to extend its good momentum, having won four of their last five matches. Puebla will be without their left back Gustavo Ferrareis after he saw a red card against Monterrey and will hope to take advantage of Chivas’ defending to walk out of Estadio Akron with the three points. Puebla has had a fantastic season and is looking for another statement win, especially against than one the most coveted teams in Mexico.

Pumas vs America ( Saturday, February 26th at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET)

Another edition of El Clasico Capitalino heads to Ciudad Universitari0 when Pumas receive the visit of their crosstown rivals Club America. Pumas enters into this match after a hard fought draw against the reigning champions Atlas. However, Pumas will be without its star goalkeeper as Talavera – who was instrumental in that match last weekend – suffered a bursitis on his shoulder. Another key player will also not be availiable for Pumas is Nicolas Freire who suffered a hamstring injury and will be out for a minimum of two weeks.  Still, Pumas continues to thrive under Andres Lillini who has managed to elevate the club’s style of play. While not being as explosive as they were when the season started, they are now a more clinical team, putting away chances when they get the opportunity.

The same cannot be said for their rivals, Club America, who woefully struggle this season with only one win under their belt after six weeks. Los Azulcremas have found themselves in a situation they have not seen in quite some time, sharing the bottom of the table with San Luis and Santos. Given all the injuries to their opposition, Las Águilas are hoping this can be a breakout game to help turn this situation around. It’s very likely Solari’s future might depend on the result that comes out from this game.
