With the college season heading into playoffs for most conferences, this past week saw the end of the regular season for a lot of players. There are still some going strong, and Texas Christian and Oklahoma State will be happy to see Emily Alvarado and Kim Rodriguez return from national team duty.
Lamar (Paloma Martinez) at McNeese on Friday, April 9th was cancelled “due to a positive COVID-19 test result, and subsequent contact tracing, within the (Lamar) program” according to a press release.
Missouri (Julissa Cisneros) at Kansas on Saturday, April 10th was cancelled “due to positive tests and contact tracing within the Kansas program,” according to a press release.
Southern Methodist (Celiana Torres) at Tulsa (Kayla Fernandez and Liliana Fernandez) was cancelled “due to player availability within the SMU program” according to a press release.
San Francisco (Marissa Vazquez) at San Diego was cancelled “has been canceled due to a positive COVID-19 test result within the Toreros’ program” according to a press release.
In the United Soccer Coaches poll, UCLA rose from #5 to #3 as TCU fell from #3 to #7. Virginia remained at #12 and Oklahoma State remained at #18, while Southern California jumped from #21 to #19 and Washington re-entered the Top 25 at #24. Arizona State, #17 last week, dropped out of the poll.
Thursday, April 8th
Bella Benavides was not on the gameday roster as Texas – El Paso lost 2-0 to Rice.
Angie Vaca was not on the gameday roster as Prairie View A&M lost 1-0 to Southern in the opening round of the SWAC tournament.
Friday, April 9th
Karina Rodriguez played all 90 minutes and Maricarmen Reyes played 12 minutes in her first game of the year as #5 UCLA beat California 3-1. Isabel Loza was not on the gameday roster for the Bruins.
Sebelle Rojas was not on the gameday roster as Seattle beat California Baptist 1-0 in overtime.
Olivia Valdivia was not on the roster as North Dakota lost 6-0 to South Dakota.
Veronica Avalos played 50 minutes and contributed a shot as San Diego State beat Boise State 1-0. Clarissa Ramirez was not on the gameday roster for SDSU.
Alexa Gonzalez was not on the gameday roster as #21 University of Southern California drew Stanford 0-0.
Yaneisy Rodriguez was not on the gameday roster as #19 Washington beat Oregon 1-0.
Karla Ramirez played all 110 mintues and allowed just one goal on 15 shots, making three saves as Houston Baptist tied Texas A&M – Corpus Christi 1-1 after double overtime.
Kelsey Brann made two saves on seven shots, picking up her fifth shutout of the season as North Texas beat Texas – San Antonio 3-0. Britnney Campa was not on the gameday roster for UTSA.
Claudia Loredo was not on the gameday roster as Stephen F. Austin beat Sam Houston State 2-1.
Alexia Delgado played 90 minutes and Nicole Soto played 13 minutes as #17 Arizona State lost 1-0 to Utah.
Alejandra Melendez played 13 minutes as Montana lost 3-2 to Eastern Washington.
Luz Arreaga played 73 minutes, contributing a shot and earning a yellow card as Nevada beat Nevada – Las Vegas 2-1.

Diana Ordonez played 95 minutes, contributing three shots on goal and scoring the lone goal for #12 Virginia as they drew #5 West Virginia after an overtime period.
Melani Medina played 40 minutes as Pacific drew San Diego 0-0.
Marissa Vazquez played 67 minutes, scoring two goals on three shots on goal as San Francisco beat Loyola Marymount 3-2. Mia Villegas played 47 minutes and contributed a shot on goal against her prior school in her second appearance of the year for LMU.
Nayeli Diaz was not on the gameday roster as Saint Mary’s College beat Portland 1-0.
#3 Texas Christian (Emily Alvarado) suffered their first loss of the season, losing 1-0 to #23 Texas A&M while Alvarado was on international duty.
Andrea Sanchez played 90 minutes as North Florida beat Stetson 3-1 in the first round of the ASUN Championship.
Sunday, April 11th

Kelsey Brann made two saves on six shots but North Texas lost to Charlotte 1-0 in the first round of Conference USA Championship. The loss ends a streak of six straight C-USA titles for UNT.
Ariel Diaz played 67 minutes and contributed a shot on goal as Southern Miss beat Florida Atlantic 2-1 in the first round of the C-USA Championship.
Claudia Loredo was not on the gameday roster as Stephen F. Austin drew Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, advancing 4-2 on penalty kicks in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament.
