With the first half of Apertura 2019 nearly finished, the surprise leaders from the opening weeks are proving to have staying power as Santos Laguna, Queretaro, and Necaxa all have backed up their flashy starts with positions in the top three at this point. But the round provides stern tests for teams at and around the top eight places in Liga MX places, including a Mexico City derby between Pumas and Cruz Azul and clashes between Atletico San Luis and Santos Laguna, and Club America and Queretaro. Despite the distance between the two sides at the moment, Sunday’s battle in Ciudad Juarez between Los Bravos and Los Tiburones could be the closest facsimile of a relegation six pointer that could take place in this edition of the Liga MX Apertura tournament.
Meanwhile, in the Ascenso MX, U.S. viewers may get to see Dorados try to climb their way up the table on Friday at the expense of Cafetaleros de Chiapas and relegation-threatened Loros UDC try to play their way out when they host Atlante who are only one point ahead of them in the table.
