The 2024 Paris Olympics soccer tournament will bring together the best teams in the world and the matches are guaranteed to be entertaining.
Players from all over the world from all different leagues will be participating, including some from the Liga MX Femenil. And even though Mexico as a nation did not qualify for the tournament, we will undoubtedly keep an eye on their performances.
Jennifer Hermoso (Tigres Femenil) – Spain
The Tigres player remains one of the key pieces in Spain’s starting eleven. Since arriving to Mexico with Pachuca in 2022 and now with the Amazonas, she has remained an integral part of the squad as they are led by head coach Montse Tomé. Given her vast playing experience, Hermoso will carry a lot of responsibility for making her country’s first participation in the Olympic Games unforgettable.
Lucía García (Rayadas of Monterrey) – Spain
Although she has not yet debuted with Monterrey, García will experience this tournament as an official Liga MX Femenil player. Montse Tomé trusts her for this competition and will aim to ensure that Garcia get on the scoreboard with La Roja to close out a dream football year: World Cup title, Nations League title and Olympic Gold.
Osinachi Ohale, Chinwendu Ihezuo (Pachuca) – Nigeria
The La Bella Airosa team will have two players feature in the Summer Olympics with the Superfalcons: Osinachi Ohale, who strengthens the Nigerian defense and Chinwendu Ihezuo, who adds speed and fluidity to the attack. Both are ready for Nigeria’s return to the Olympic Games.
Yirleidis Quejada Minota (Pachuca) – Colombia
Quejada joined the team in January 2024 and remained at the level to be considered by Angelo Marsiglia, technical director of the coffee plants. After the great participation of the Colombian team in the Gold Cup, expectations are high for the team and the Pachuca defender will seek to put in a perfect performance so that Colombia has a greater chance of advancing to the next round.
Catalina Usme (Pachuca) – Colombia
The Colombian forward just said goodbye to Pachuca, but for the purposes of this list, we are including her based on the technicality that her performance in the Mexican league did secure her a place on the final Olympic roster. The top scorer in the history of the Colombian national team is ready to shine once again for a team that has already proved that they can compete with any team they and Usme are put up against.
Prisca Chilufya (FC Juárez) – Zambia
The fastest forward in the Liga MX Femenil will participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics hoping to qualify for the next stage of the competition given Zambia was eliminated in the group stage of the Tokyo Olympics back in 2020. Can she help Zambia get there?
