Loyola Marymount (Mia Villegas)’s match against #11 Santa Clara which was set for Friday, March 19th was cancelled, with” the game (being) marked as a forfeit in the official standings, due to LMU’s limited roster entering the week due to injuries.” The press release clarified it was related solely to injuries and that “none of the injuries on LMU’s roster are related to COVID-19 cases or contact tracing.”
San Francisco (Marisa Vasquez)’s match at San Diego which was set for Friday, March 19th was postponed, and the match against #11 Santa Clara that was set for Tuesday, March 23rd was also cancelled. “Due to positive COVID-19 test and related contact tracing, and out of an abundance of caution, University of San Francisco women’s soccer has paused all team-related activities,” a press release from USF stated.
Prairie View A&M (Angie Vaca)’s Friday, March 19th match against Southern was “postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test and subsequent quarantining of student-athletes among the SU program,” according to a press release. The release from Southern University went on to say that “A make-up date for the game has not been determined at this time.”
Alabama A&M (Fernanda Valencia)’s Sunday, March 21st match against Mississippi Valley State was cancelled “as a result of Mississippi Valley State choosing to opt out of the Spring 2021 season,” according to a press release. The MVST press release said the “players were united in their decision and felt it was in their best interest to focus on returning to play in the fall.”
Arizona State University fell from #16 to #21 in the United Soccer Coaches poll cdue to their loss to University of Arizona. Washington meanwhile jumped from #23 to #18.
