With only three more rounds after Jornada 14, teams know that Jornada 14 could be their make or break weak when it comes to moving into position to secure a playoff place. The relegation battle is also immediately a three to four team battle, with an potential relegation six-pointer on Saturday between Veracruz and Necaxa. On that day, when seven of the nine Liga MX games will be played, El Clasico Universitario will take place at El Volcan, and with the right combination of results, Tijuana could put Chiapas in the drop zone. And on Sunday, a potential match of the week between the top two teams in the Clausura will take place.
This weekend also marks the final round of the Ascenso MX Clausura tournament. In the featured action in the United States, Loros UDC are looking to conclude their stay in Ascenso MX by knocking Atlante out of Apertura 2017 Copa MX contention, while lideres Dorados look to build momentum into the Liguilla when they host Correcaminos UAT.
And the action involving Mexican teams does not stop there. Tigres UANL and Pachuca begin their CONCACAF Champions League tie on Tuesday, April 18, and Chivas and Monterrey will compete on Wednesday, April 19 for the title of Copa MX Clausura 2017 Champion.
