FMF Won’t Appeal Osorio’s Six Game Suspension

The Mexican soccer federation will not appeal the six game suspension issued by FIFA to coach Juan Carlos Osorio.

The Colombian manager was given the ban for controversial actions where he was seen yelling at an assistant referee during the Confederations’ Cup third place match against Portugal last month.

The statement from the federation was released Friday via the official website. “After having received complete documentation about the incidents during the match for fourth place in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup between Mexico and Portugal and having analyzed the situation carefully, it has been decided to not appeal the sanctions imposed upon Juan Carlos Osorio, manager of the Mexico national team.” a statement read.

If Mexico fails to make it the final of this year’s edition of the Gold Cup, the ban could affect World Cup qualifiers.
