El Tri

El Tri finalizes 23-man FIFA Confederations Cup squad and 25-man CONCACAF Gold Cup squad.

Lost in the noise of Mexico’s 1-1 draw against the United States were two roster announcements that Juan Carlos Osorio and his staff made.

The 23-man FIFA Confederations Cup squad is finalized.

First, there was  announcement from FMF of the 23 players that El Tri was sending to the FIFA Confederations Cup. The 23 players are en route to a flight to Amsterdam before taking flights to Moscow and to Kazan later this week.

With only a few changes from the list of players who played the World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and the United States, the squad carries few surprises, when taken into the departure of Jesus Manuel Corona for personal reasons.

Here is the complete squad that Mexico will take to the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.

25 players called into Juan Carlos Osorio’s preliminary Gold Cup squad, but they have a special guest.

And on Sunday, the FMF revealed that Juan Carlos Osorio trimmed his Gold Cup squad down from 40 players to 25 players. However reports surfaced that Angel Zaldivar was invited to train with the side ahead of the Gold Cup, which will take place between July 7 and July 26.

The team will be training with assistant manager Pompilio Paez before taking on friendly matches against Ghana on June 28 and Paraguay on July 1. El Tri‘s first Gold Cup match is on July 9, in which they will take on El Salvador.

The FMF will release the final 23-man convocatoria on June 27.
